Dental Hygiene
Dental hygiene isn’t just about a quick brush before bed. It’s the cornerstone of a healthy smile, preventing cavities, gum disease, and even bad breath. At Smile Warehouse, we understand that navigating the world of dental hygiene products and techniques can feel overwhelming. That’s why our dedicated team goes beyond cleanings. We partner with you to develop a personalized routine that fits your lifestyle. We’ll guide you through proper brushing and flossing techniques, recommend the best products for your individual needs, and answer any questions you may have. Our goal is to empower you with the knowledge and tools you need to achieve optimal oral health at home, for a smile that’s not just bright, but healthy and confident.
Patients Should Book Cleaning Appointments Every Six Months
Disease prevention starts with you. It is of utmost importance to develop and maintain an optimal at-home oral care plan while also booking regular cleaning appointments at our dental office. During a cleaning appointment, one of our friendly and gentle dental hygienists will perform the following:

Exam & Disease Screening
Preventative care begins with a thorough exam of your mouth, face, neck, lips, tongue and throat, and checking for cavities of course.

Cleaning/Scaling
Scaling is the process of removing plaque and tartar buildup from your teeth and below the gumline to keep them nice and healthy.

Polishing
Afterwards, an abrasive paste will be applied to your teeth in a flavour of your choice to whiten them and strengthen enamel.

Flossing
Leftover debris will be removed with floss, an important aspect that should be included in your daily at-home oral care routine.
The Role of A Dental Hygienist
A dental hygienist performs various tasks, including but not limited to, conducting oral assessments, taking and developing dental X-rays, removing plaque and calculus from teeth, applying preventive materials such as sealants and fluoride, and educating patients on proper oral hygiene practices. They also play an important role in screening patients for signs of oral diseases and collaborating with dentists to create personalized treatment plans. Furthermore, dental hygienists often provide valuable support to patients by addressing their concerns, providing reassurance, and offering guidance for improving their oral health.
