Root canal Therapy

Toothaches can be debilitating! If you’re experiencing a persistent or severe toothache, root canal therapy might be the solution. This procedure relieves pain by removing infected pulp from the root canal of the tooth, preserving the tooth itself. Experienced dentists utilize advanced techniques to ensure a comfortable experience, allowing you to regain comfort and avoid tooth extraction. Schedule an appointment today and find lasting relief from your toothache with root canal therapy.

What To Expect During A Root Canal Procedure

The entire root canal procedure might take more than one appointment depending on the severity of the infection. When you come in for your appointment, we will evaluate your oral health and determine how long it will take as well as the best way to save your natural teeth.

X-Rays

The first step in your treatment will be to take X-rays to help us determine where the infection is. A local anesthetic will be given to numb the area.

Pulp Chamber & Root Is Cleaned

Small instruments help the dentist access the pulp chamber. After the infected pulp is removed, the pulp chamber and root canals are shaped using special files to make room for a filling.

Temporary Filling

A temporary filling will be used inside of the tooth to seal and protect it until you're ready for the placement of a dental crown. Crowns are custom-made and help restore your tooth's strength and appearance.

Aftercare

We will provide you with aftercare instructions that should be followed closely to ensure the infection is managed and your tooth and dental crown are properly healed.

Are You Experiencing Tooth Pain?

Did you know that our teeth contain three layers? The first layer is enamel, the second is dentin, and the third is dental pulp; the innermost layer contains blood vessels, nerve tissue, and connective tissue. Decay can reach this third layer of the tooth structure and can cause sensitivity, pain, swollen gums, and tooth discolouration. If left untreated, the infection can continue to spread into your bloodstream. It’s extremely important to address tooth decay early, not only to protect the tooth, but also to prevent it from reaching the pulp chamber. If it has reached the pulp, you’ll need a root canal, also termed endodontic treatment.
